Nazis and Good Neighbors: The US Campaign Against Germans in Latin America During WWII - Historical Study on US-Latin American Relations

An excellent written and thoroughly researched piece of history referring to a peripheral battlefield of the Second World War. A book that all descendants of German families that lived in Latin America in the time span between 1900 - 1955 should read. A book that like a headlight illuminates a chapter of history that for too long has been willfully kept in the darkness of oblivion. I am Dutch and my family will always be extremely grateful to the Allied Forces and especially to the United States for liberating the Netherlands (and the World!) form the Nazis. But I also lived many, many years in Central America and I perfectly know about the tragedies that many families suffered over there just because they had a German family name but NOTHING to do with Nazism. Even Jewish families that fled from Europe in the early 1930ies to Latin America were deported to camps in the USA or even were returned to Europe. Such errors should never repeat. We avoid errors by learning from the past.
