Surprise, my family is on the cover of this book. This brought back memories of immigrating to the US. Photo is from the Herald Examiner, 1951, December 3, Arriving at Union Station, from Midland, Texas. My father Alexander Ranezay was the one millionth Displaced Person to immigrate to the United States with his family and with the help of the International Refugee Organization. We were lucky, so many immigrants never had this opportunity. To quote my father, "Please don't forget the ones left behind. We who have learned the meaning of freedom, wish it for everyone". We found the book by Googling my father's name, December 2012, it was a wonderful Christmas present to see my family on the cover of this book. I'm the last one in my family and now a cover girl after all these years in the U.S.AGerard Daniel Cohen's book is filled with the history of what it was to be a Displaced Person and the role the International Refugee Organization played in that era. Very informative, thank you Mr. CohenIn War's Wake: Europe's Displaced Persons in the Postwar Order (Oxford Studies in International History)
