Mr Davis did a very nice development of the camp's history and operation. It is interesting that a southerner would write about a very hot topic. Yet this is a balanced study and should be required reading. I would suggest comparing the findings of Mr Davis and that of Michael Horigan (Elmira). The odd thing is both are reporting in a very balanced and researched orientated way while both write about events in their sections of the country. Both arrive at the brutal truth when brother fights brother.Safe to say that being a POW sucks regardless of the time or the place. Yet when studying and researching a topic using primary sources and substantiating with foot notes, you cannot go wrong.A war that never should have been fought. A terrible time, place and situation but Mr Davis does a great job of researching this ugly topic. History is not always fun but it is worth knowing and distinguishing fact from fiction. nA wise buy!
