This book's color plates are inferior to contemporary Osprey books in terms of anatomy and style(many appear to have been done with colored pencil). The plates do illustrate items and uniforms that are seldom seen. Where this volume shines is the photographs. Many are WWII era color photos. Others are tinted and most are black and white, the vast majority being rarely seen in western references. I paid more for this book than others of similar format, but the $23.00 I paid does not seem too dear for it's usefulness to me.
