This is the album that introduced me to Manowar.........how had I not heard of these guys before!? I feel like part of my soul has been completed. This album is pure warrior music. If you are a fan of the Robert E. Howard Conan stories, or an admirer of Norse mythology, or an actual practicing Heathen/Asatruar like myself, you will LOVE this album. It is meant to be listened to in its entirety, as it is intended as a musical story/ operatic performance, however, many of of the songs are AWESOME standing alone. This is PURE metal GLORY! It has become my new workout album. When I run, bike, or lift weights the songs make me feel like I could SHOOT LIGHTNING BOLTS OUT OF MY FREAKIN' HANDS! I can be on a run and when these songs play I feel the BERSERKER rage well up in me...my heart beats stronger, and sparks crackle on my flesh! It makes my runs faster, longer, and harder than I ever imagined. Workout supplements? HA! All you need is Manowar. And for those of you out there who, like me, are Northern European Traditionalists, aka Asatruar...this album will feel like a modern day acknowledgment of the power and glory that is your heritage and spiritual birthright. Yes, some of the mythological facts in the lyrics are a bit off, but WHO CARES! It's the spirit this music evokes that matters! This CD has been a gateway for me to the rest of Manowar's glorious opus. As a warrior spirit and true metalhead, I can't believe what I was missing! Highlight songs are:1.
